These 2 books were the result of research that author Shirley Toulson and I did to find the places Samuel Palmer painted in North Wales and the South West. The paintings I did were my personal response to these places. The books marked the bicentenary of Palmer’s birth and accompanied the exhibitions I had in Harlech, at Wells Museum and at Wiveliscombe, which ran concurrently with The British Museum exhibition of Palmer’s paintings. My paintings were then part of an exhibition on pilgrimage at Ovada in Oxford in association with the Ashmolean.
Ama Bolton, bookmaker and textile artist designed the book and made a small first edition which was hand stitched.
